Why study the Master Degree in Integrated Business Management in Barcelona?

This master’s degree equips you with the tools you need to identify business opportunities and turn them into solid projects through the application of specific strategies. The master’s focusses on answering key questions, such as: What is the best business strategy to be for building a global project? What are the international, legal, and fiscal frameworks that need to be considered? How can teams be managed effectively? And how can you lead a company’s digital transformation?

Using these questions as a base, our program provides in-depth knowledge on business market trends and the ins and outs of how global organisations work, all the while considering the important role of international economic, legal, and fiscal contexts. The course develops three specialisation paths: marketing, human resources, and business development in international environments. The combination of these three areas of knowledge along with the tools we provide will allow you to explore new professional opportunities.

Specialisation Pathways

Students can focus on three different specialisation areas:

Marketing:
This specialisation addresses commercial contexts and brand reputation in relation to a company’s global strategy. It looks at the important function of demand generation and the impact it has on a company achieving its goals. This specialisation includes the creative problem-solving of issues that arise in a highly international and disruptive environment, as well as looking at strategies that can be used for creating digital content.

Human Resources:
This specialisation focuses on the analysis and practice of principles, methods, and technology. The course content works to assess the well-being, motivations, and perception of a company’s human capital in order to respond to the needs of the organisation. It aims to prepare professionals to take a active role in transforming the attitudes and approaches of the human resources department, and to be able to face current and relevant business challenges.

International Business Development:
This specialisation gives you the tools to be able to identify and take advantage of the opportunities provided by international environments. Whether it is expansion into new geographical areas, digital transformation, or the development of new products and/or services, this area allows for the influence of global financial markets. You will need to create opportunities that will lead to business growth and to be able to anticipate market movements.

Training and Learning Process

Knowledge or contents

  • Develop self-evaluative and critical reflection processes. This process is used both for personal development and as an approach to understanding the predominant paradigms around strategic thinking in business, as well as the main theories in the management of competition.
  • Determine the key components, based on theories of disruptive innovation, that affect the design and execution of business strategies in competitive environments.
  • Acquire advanced knowledge of different methods and typologies applicable in Marketing.

  • Describe clear business and financial objectives based on a critical understanding of the market, of legal scope, and of the current economic situation.
  • Have the necessary conceptual knowledge to critically evaluate market research, data analysis and, if applicable, propose new hypotheses or research proposals.
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of practical business principles, theories, and concepts. This understanding is to be in relation to the different functional areas of business environments (such as the legal, fiscal, labour, financial, and market areas) and will be shown through the putting forward of intervention proposals.

Abilities or skills

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of theoretical knowledge, and an ability to critically reflect on the implications of such theories during moments of change and improvement within companies.
  • Critically analyse information sources and use only those which hold scientific weight. Sources will be used to structure and formulate arguments during the research or professional project.

  • Confront problem solving with an entrepreneurial and innovative attitude and solve issues that arise from the professional performance of the different functional areas of businesses.

  • Apply the main strategic business frameworks to propose innovative solutions to case-study problems.
  • Propose interventions that are appropriate to the national or international context while taking into account the specific variables that condition them (such as the legislative, social, fiscal, financial and commercial context).

  • Either write an academic research paper or execute a business plan. These must be based on the analysis and interpretation of data and must provide the theoretical methodological basis for complex decision-making.
  • Plan and execute a research project or professional project in the field of marketing, human resources, or business development in international environments.

  • Produce well-written reports and documents which are free of spelling and punctuation errors. Implement the use of effective in-person communication (verbal and nonverbal) in personal and professional interactions. This can be in Spanish and/or English.

Competences

  • Independently develop personal and professional attitudes and actions which prioritise gender equality and inclusion of diversity and do so with intellectual honesty and integrity.
  • Consider the complexity of a given situation when making decisions and take into account the need to work in teams in a multi-professional way and on a level playing field with others.
  • Propose effective and verifiable solutions for a case study in the field of marketing, human resources, or business development in international environments, and do so in a self-directed, autonomous manner.

  • Define your own personal learning objectives and, in accordance with these, design individual and collective development processes. These processes, which must be coherent and realistic, must be completed within the allotted time.
  • Show that you can autonomously propose interventions which not only demonstrate originality but are also in line with democratic values; this requires putting forward interventions which respect people’s fundamental rights and prioritise health and sustainable development.
  • Manage professional projects or research projects which include concrete plans for sustainable models of consumption and production, as well as the development of specific policies which prioritise gender equality.
